Pittsburgh Public School Costs

Saw this letter in yesterday's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, by our own second-generation Pittsburgh libertarian, Danny Alman (son of Leo). Nice to see he's still around and actively involved.

Expensive students

In “My bad: The hits that missed” (July 28), Tony Norman referred to “chronically underfunded schools.” For the school year that recently ended, the Pittsburgh public school district had a budget of $668.3 million for 20,350 students. That works out to $32,840 per student. Since Mr. Norman think this is not enough, I’m curious to know how much money he thinks would be enough.
